I bought the HD DVD of Planet Earth. Will this play on the PS3?

I’m confused between HD DVD and Blue Ray. What is the variation, and are they interchangeable? Will the HD DVD work in a Blue Ray system? And vice versa?

No, you cannot play an HD dvd in a Blue Ray player. They are uncommon formats. Like a cd-r isn’t a cd-rw, some players can only play the cd-r. In my opinion there isn’t much variation, others will argue the point.
