Blue Ray DVD Player: plays HD (high definition) DVDs and standard DVDs. Each Blue Ray Disc has layers of coding capable of producing millions of pixels (the more pixels a picture has the clearer it is in a standard or zoom mode). More black to white ratios in each frame making a more plain picture. In the movie theater movies are played at 20-24 frames per following which most Blue Ray DVD player now can produce. Also the sounds have deeper lows and higher highs. Blue Ray is basically an advance HD DVD
In order to use this type of dvd player to its potential. You would need an HD-TV (right now one can be bought for $175 and up (starting at 26" flat screen)
A standard dvd player is a lot cheaper starting at $20(some quality players starting at $70). If you choose on purchasing one i would stick with quality brands like SONY and PANASONIC. If you go with a no-name brand you would have small use out of it(they break or stop working quick depending on usage
