Blue Ray DVD Player: plays HD (high definition) DVDs and standard DVDs. Each Blue Ray Disc has layers of coding capable of producing millions of pixels (the more pixels a picture has the clearer it is in a standard or zoom mode). More black to white ratios in each frame making a more plain picture. In the movie theater movies are played at 20-24 frames per following which most Blue Ray DVD player now can produce. In order to use this type of dvd player to its potential. You would need an HD-TV (right now one can be bought for $175 and up (starting at 26" flat screen)
A standard dvd player is a lot cheaper starting at $20(some quality players starting at $70). If you choose on purchasing one i would stick with quality brands like SONY and PANASONIC. If you go with a no-name brand you would have small use out of it(they break or stop working quick depending on usage
